Sally Black, Trainer
A native of Oceanside, Sally has been training and instructing for over 40 years. Her formal education began in England at the Porlock Vale Riding School. Sally also taught and trained at La Jolla Farms with leaders in the industry. After leaving La Jolla Farms, Sally and her husband Trig, owned and operated Black land Farm in Bonita, a training and lesson facility now known as Sweetwater Farm. Sally then worked with Chuck Esau and the Rancho Bernardo Riding School for four years. In 1997 Sally came to North Coast Equestrian Park as Senior Trainer and Manager of our Boarding programs, where she established the lesson program based on George Morris's hunt seat equitation. Following a long time desire of her husband, Sally and Trig retired to Prescott, Arizona in 2000, to once again enjoy their very own Black land Farm. After 2 wonderful years in Prescott, Sally lost Trig to a heart attack. Sally returned to NCEP in December of 2002 as NCEP's Executive Director where she has implemented a very successful training and show program. Not only are her students growing in the riding ability and their relationship with their horse, but they are amazingly consistent winner-ribbons, and parents and riders from other barns remark on the girls' superb camaraderie as a barn. With her vast resources and knowledge, Sally will be involved in the further expansion and growth of the Riding School and move NCEP into new and exciting directions for the future.
As well as teaching and training, Sally has been active in the horse community serving on the Pacific Coast Horse Show Association (PCHA), Pony Hunter Committee, Chapter 1 President of the California Professional Horseman's Association (CPHA) as well as being a founding and current board member of the Greater San Diego Hunter Jumper Association (GSDHJA).
